Washington beer knights

Washington, D.C. can now convene a meeting of knights of a - small - round table.

Friday in Brussels, Bill Catron, the beer sommelier at Washington D.C.'s Brasserie Beck, was inducted into the Chevalerie du Fourquet des Brasseurs: the The Knighthood of the Brewers’ Mashstaffs. He joins Dave Alexander, owner of the Brickskeller, knighted a few years ago, as one of only two D.C. 'sirs'.

The award is bestowed by the Union of Belgian Brewers, a professional trade association of brewers in Belgium.

There are 12 other Americans so honored including Randy Thiel, the brewmaster of Brewery Ommegang, who was the very first American recipient.

Here's an audio clip from NPR.
